• Classic Bumps, Grinds & Shimmies: Learn the foundational movements that have entranced audiences for generations. Master the art of sensual body isolations and combine them to make seamless burlesque routines.

• Showgirl Stance: Discover the power of posture and presence. Cultivate the commanding showgirl stance that exudes confidence and allure, setting the stage for your magnetic performance.

Classic Burlesque Workshop

Time: 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Have you ever wanted to elevate your classic burlesque routines? Step into the glamour and allure of Classic Burlesque, where tease, comedy, and vintage musicality combine to create an unforgettable performance experience. Perfect for both beginners and experienced dancers, this workshop celebrates the 1860s to 1950s, taking you deeper into the golden age of burlesque.

In this 90-minute session, we’ll introduce you to a historically inspired routine honoring iconic performers like Gypsy Rose Lee, Lili St. Cyr, and Blaze Starr.

Skills Covered:

• Vintage Choreography & Dance: Master the delicate balance of reveal and conceal, you will learn about classic showgirl techniques and burlesque bump and grinds to suit any vintage routine.

• Musicali-tease: Learn how to listen to and sync your performances to the various instruments in music, giving your routines that effortless classic feel.

• Classic Burlesque History: Dive into the stories and legacies of burlesque pioneers, honouring their timeless influence on the art.

• Face & Characterization: Develop expressive characters and use bold facial expressions to make a lasting impression, connecting deeply with your audience.

Neo Burlesque Workshop

Time: 1:45 pm - 3:15 pm

Difficulty Level: All Levels

Unveil the captivating world of Neo Burlesque in this transformative workshop that goes beyond the feathers and glitter. Neo Burlesque isn't just about the moves; it's about the meaning, journey, and narrative you bring to the stage. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or stepping into the spotlight for the first time, Neo-Burlesque allows you to explore the depths of your performance artistry and understand your "why."

In this 90 minute workshop you will learn a 2 minute long routine that is designed to empower you and inspire your own burlesque journey.

• Dance & Choreography Mastery: Elevate your dance and movement skills with expert guidance. From sensual struts to dynamic routines, you'll learn techniques that enhance your performance and captivate your audience.

• Thoughtful Tease Techniques: Neo-Burlesque isn't about simply revealing; it's about the art of anticipation and seduction. Discover how to create moments of suspense, using every gesture to weave an enchanting tapestry of allure.

• Empower Your Burlesque Journey: Explore your unique path within the world of burlesque. Gain insights into self-expression, body confidence, and empowerment through your performances. Understand how burlesque can be a platform for celebrating your individuality and embracing your inner strength.

• Uncover Your Motivations: Delve deep into your motivations for this captivating journey. Through introspective exercises, you'll uncover the personal stories and reasons that drive you to the burlesque stage, giving your performances genuine authenticity and emotional depth.

• Crafting Narrative Choreography: Learn how to construct a compelling story through your movements. From selecting music that resonates with your message to designing choreography that tells a tale, you'll develop the skills to create cohesive narratives that leave a lasting impact.

What To Bring:

• An oversized button up long sleeve shirt

• OR kimono style robe

We will be practising striptease in this class, so please bring an outer layer to take off. If you have a spare, feel free to bring that too — it may come in handy in case another student forgets theirs.

No prior burlesque experience is required. All levels are welcome to attend. Come with an open heart, a willingness to explore, and a desire to uncover your "why."

My classes are a safe and welcoming space for all, and I welcome individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and skill levels. Whether you are a beginner or have some dance experience, you are welcome to join me in celebrating your body, exploring movement, and developing your skills. I aim to create an inclusive environment where all can feel comfortable expressing themselves and learning at their own pace. So, don't worry if you are new to dance, I am here to support and encourage you through every bump, grind, and shimmy.

What To Bring

Please bring a towel and water bottle.

You are welcome to bring a pen and paper/notebook to take notes during the workshops, but it is not required.

Dance heels are required for most workshops, please check the individual workshop descriptions.

Dress Code

I want you to feel comfortable and confident during class, so wear something that makes you feel good! Leggings, shorts, and a singlet are all great options. You're also welcome to wear lingerie or any other clothing that makes you feel sexy. However, please make sure you are able to move freely and safely in whatever you choose to wear.

In addition, I recommend wearing dance heels if possible. This will help you practice proper stance and technique, and will give you a better feel for the classic burlesque style. However, if you're not comfortable in heels, you're welcome to wear flat dance shoes or bare feet. Whatever you choose, make sure you feel comfortable and confident to strut your stuff!
